Alison Swain
Alison Swain is the Renal Vascular Access Sister, Berkshire Kidney Unit.
Alison has spent most of her long career working in dialysis. She is a founding member of the BRS/VASBI Special Interest Group, whose work has included the development and production of the National Clinical Practice Recommendations for Needling of Arteriovenous Fistulae and Grafts for Haemodialysis. This group then also produced the Staff E-learning module on cannulation and Staff Clinical Competencies for Vascular Access Workbook.
This work continues as part of the KQuiP Quality Improvement Project, named MAGIC (Managing Access, Generating Improvements in Cannulation), with which Alison continues to be involved, as the Regional lead for the SE Regional Network Collaborative Project on MAGIC, incorporating five major renal centres. Alison is currently a member of the BRS/VASBI group working on needle dislodgement strategy. She also manages the email distribution list for the Vascular Access Nurses

Deborah Brady
Deborah is a retired nurse who has worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry in various roles in the UK and mainland Europe for the last 40 years.
She is passionate about genuinely partnering with healthcare professional to improve outcomes. Having been a director at xtra-med for the last 9 years she is very well read in the field of vascular access and gets great satisfaction from facilitating education for others through the study day experience.

William Withers
Having started RRT in 1992 at the age of 19, William has tried and survived all forms of treatment. Currently doing Noctural Home HD with 16 years of experience of this modality.
A keen advocate, William has been involved with many renal groups in the UK and Europe, such as VASBI, KCUK and other smaller specialist interest groups.
A specific interest in Vascular Access, but also patient quality of life and best practice in dialysis. Experience speaking at conferences in the UK and Europe and author of numerous kidney related articles in journals and kidney publications.
A keen advocate, William has been involved with many renal groups in the UK and Europe, such as VASBI, KCUK and other smaller specialist interest groups.

Liberty Berino
Liberty is a Renal Nurse for 27 yrs. She had her Renal Specialist Course and trained at Churchill Hospital and Oxford Brookes University. 8 years as a Vascular Access Link Nurse and 10 years as a Lead Vascular Access Nurse. Authored poster about Patient Cannulation using Nurse-Led Ultrasound and co-authored various posters about vascular access for UKKW.
As a VA Lead, Liberty's responsibility includes organizing vascular access creation, post surgical follow up, monitoring and assessing complications of all renal patients in the main renal unit, satellite unit, Home HD patients, pre-dialysis patients and surgical PD catheter insertion/hernia repair. She considered her main achievement was keeping her team above national target in the last 8 year.
Her passion in vascular access encouraged her to be actively involved and advocate Buttonhole Cannulation, Nurse-Led Ultrasound and open for new vascular access innovation or practice to help improve patient experience.
